Word of the Orks has come to America
I have come here because I was told this was the place to find the greatest players of Orks in the world. My German is very very poor so far so it is difficult to read many of the posts. Internet translations are not much better than I am. But I am Dominic from New York. I am in the US Army serving in Iraq right now. i have a very basic idea for a character, but I do not really know enough about what is out there to make much more than the skeleton. I work leather and metal myself, and I'd like to take those to my character. Thank you for your time and being patient with a poor foreigner.

Welcome!
Even if your German skills are not the best, you might find lots of pictures to enhance your ideas about your own character. If you do not understand anything, just ask.

Welcome
I think the best way to help you is that you post pictures of what you have done so far, like parts of your armour or your mask or
whatever and then we can tell you what is already good or what still has to be enhanced.
Also seraching this board for pictures could be very helpful to see how a cool armour can be achieved in a few steps, with little costs.
Feel free to ask.

Re:Word of the Orks has come to America
Welcome Cl'ank ,
So, you would like to play an armorer orc , thats great , i like that. It opens you many opportunities to do Roleplay!
-:Now i gonna try to help you:-
Do you prefer an specific "style" of orc?
For Example :
-Warhammer
-Lord of the Rings
-Warcraft
-or other?
You can decide between these various "styles" or even mix them up.
Maybe you have some favourite pictures of orcs , just show them to us , that makes it much easier to find out
what you personally like , so we dont give you some prefabricated crap you dont even like
Or show us what you have already done and we give you the basic Orkheerlager Style
Whatever , keep it up
and post pictures

Haha, hart lustig. Entweder klares Gebashe oder ein neuer Fall von "der Don von Irak".
Naja ... welcome.

Re:Word of the Orks has come to America
I am looking for more Warcraft Orc, but I'm in a group called Nero that has it's own version. From what I've seen it looks to be a mix between Lord of the Rings and Warcraft. The pictures that I've seen on this site have given me some great ideas already, and I finally have something to do with all that scrap leather!
I have made my own maille coif out of copper. It's quite shiny and heavy so it's more on the warcraft side. But I have alot of bits and pieces of other projects that I may put together to form one piece of armour. Here is what I have found so far:
Here is the weapon I plan on using:
http://www.strongblade.com/prod/sbeg-wp ... dmace.html
And the mask:
http://www.maskworld.com/english/produc ... kit--10061
I'm still not sure what else. I've found fangs from Dental Distortions. Can anyone give advice? Thank you.

Re:Word of the Orks has come to America
Hi Dominic!
So, the fame of the german orc-larp-scene has advanced to the united states.
In good old paranoid tradition of our forum, many of us will in the first place think of someone out of our own rows who's trying to kid us.
If you proof not to be a fake, you will receive tons of information you need regarding the german way of orcplaying. Most of us prefer the "Lord of the Ring Style", due to the Fact that the Warcraft and Warhammer Styles are often too comic-like.
But both are also suitable for a basic idea or as "ingredients" to mix up your individual style.
We also developed a basic "guideline" for orcplayers which has to be fulfilled to take part in our official "orc army camp" (Orkheerlager)
But don't be afraid, it's not so strict and difficult as it sounds :-)
On this note, have fun and welcome at orklager.org ;-)

Ahh, they always want proof. Here you go:

It's hot as HELL today. i like the "Lord of the Ring" style of playing for the makeup and the acting, but I like the "Warcraft" because it doesn't prevent Orcs from having decent armour. I like making scrap armour sometimes, but it's good to be able to make things that look good as well. For the "Guidelines" I'm afraid that I would need them in English. For Strongblade they're the most realistic weapons that I have been able to find and also the safest. If you know someone who can make the look more real and still safe, please let me know. I'm looking to make an entire forge tool set that can be used in combat (Hammers, tongs, an anvil and that kind of thing) so that if I am working and attacked, I can throw tools at the offender. I'm not sure what the last part of that "Edit" says, it doesn't translate well in my program.

he just said that importing stuff from strongblade may be an option if it wasnt for high shipment/duty costs.

Actually from the smell of things, it's more suitable to the forges at Isengard. I might need to paint on the white hand!

Maybe you should better be the living tree with the big gun ...äh ...limb I mean.
Do you really craft your armor down there, or on your home leave? I mean it's just kind of funny to imagine you going home and the guys loading the plain checking your baggage: "Trunk. Bag one. Bag two. Weird metal-armor?" "That's my orcish armor, man." "Ah yeah ok, seems about time you're leaving this place..."
